Gemotions

He hadn't expected to feel anything. Yet, as he stared at the invitation, a tremor started in his fingers, then spread, making him drop his phone. He sat down heavily, the chair creaking beneath him. His stomach churned. He looked at the invitation and felt like he was back in the hallway, waiting to be called on.

The present seemed to recede, and the past felt very close. His breath caught in his throat. He felt like his skin was too tight. He rubbed his hands together, trying to find some purchase. It seemed like there was nothing.
